Daniel McCormick was born in California, USA to Mexican parents. He grew up playing many sports including football and basketball before beginning his ballet training at the age of 9 where he found his true passion and love for dance. He went on to train at San Francisco Ballet School under Patrick Armand and later Houston Ballet Academy with Claudio Munoz. As a student, Daniel participated in the YAGP Finals in New York City where he was awarded the Gold Medal and also the USA International Ballet Competition where he was awarded the Robert Joffrey Award.
He began his professional career at the Houston Ballet in Texas preforming in many ballets from various famous choreographers including Jiri Kylian, John Neumeier, and Stanton Welch to name a few. In 2017, he joined the English National Ballet in London and in 2018, after his first season, he won the company’s “Emerging Dancer” competition. In 2019, he was nominated for the “Emerging Artist Award” at the prestigious National Dance Awards in London.
Daniel has danced various leading roles with English National Ballet including The Prince in Cinderella at the Royal Albert Hall, Albrecht in Giselle, Ali in Le Corsaire, Lescaut in Manon, and the Nephew in Wayne Eagling’s The Nutcracker. He has worked closely with various esteemed choreographers including Akram Khan, Liam Scarlett, and has even created a role in William Forsythe’s Playlist (Track 1,2). Daniel continues to dance in London where he is currently a First Soloist at the English National Ballet.
