Composer, actor, university associate professor, theatre practitioner and cultural leader. His work centres on opera, musical theatre and applied composition; both his creative and leadership careers are shaped by the idea of the unity of music and theatre. He began his career as an actor, gaining direct contact with the world of the stage at an early age. His first-hand experience of how theatre operates from within later had a fundamental influence on his approach to composition: in his works, music is not merely an accompanying element, but an integral part of the dramaturgy, actively shaping the action on stage. He graduated from the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music with degrees in applied composition and composition at master's level. He earned his Doctor of Liberal Arts (DLA) degree from the University of Theatre and Film Arts, graduating summa cum laude. His research focuses on opera, with particular emphasis on the operatic legacy of Kálmán Nádasdy.
As a composer, he has written operas, oratorios, music for theatre productions, musicals, film scores, chamber works and symphonic compositions. His works bring together the classical musical tradition, theatrical dramaturgy and contemporary modes of expression in complementary ways. His particular interests include the possibilities for renewing opera and exploring contemporary forms of musical theatre. His creative work has been recognised with prestigious professional awards; as an opera and concert composer, he has received several Hungarian and international prizes. His compositions are performed both in concert halls and theatres, while he continues to develop new theatrical and musical projects.
Alongside his work as a composer, he also plays a significant role in Hungarian theatre life as an institutional leader. Following his tenure as director of the Csokonai National Theatre Debrecen, he is currently Music Director of the Szeged National Theatre, where his key areas of responsibility include opera and the artistic development of musical theatre. He is also an associate professor at the University of Theatre and Film Arts. In his teaching, he advocates an integrated approach combining composition, theatrical thinking and practical creative work. He considers it important that, alongside high-level professional training, young artists should understand and gain practical knowledge of how theatre operates as a whole. According to his artistic philosophy, music is one of the theatre's most powerful means of expression: it can create independent dramaturgical layers, convey emotional and intellectual content, and open up new perspectives in stage storytelling. As a composer, educator, researcher and cultural leader, he consistently represents this approach.
