Zsuzsanna Bazsinka pursued her education at Budapest's Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music as a student of József Simándy and Éva Andor. She has been a soloist at the Hungarian State Opera since 1989, when she made her debut there by jumping in to sing the female principal role of Silvana in Respighi's opera La Fiamma. She has signed with numerous German opera houses, having been a member of the companies of the Karlsruhe, Leipzig and Essen operas, and has made guest appearances in Dresden, Hannover, Luxembourg, France, Sweden, Slovakia, Roma and Japan. In Hungary, she has sung at the theatres of Szeged, Miskolc and Debrecen, and audiences have had the opportunity to hear her perform as a concert singer in the country's foremost concert halls. Her repertoire includes more than 60 operas, ranging in period from the baroque to the 20th century. She has won numerous awards and honours: she received the Mihály Székely Commemorative Plaque in 2006, became the first winner of the Júlia Osváth Award in 2008 and an Artist of Merit in 2009, also winning the György Melis Award in that same year. Also in 2009, she received the “Loyalty to the Homeland” Cross of Merit from the World Federation of Certified Hungarian Freedom Fighters. Her principal roles include Cleopatra (Giulio Cesare), Pamina (Die Zauberflöte), Konstanze (Die Entführung aus dem Serail), Lucia (Lucia di Lammermoor), Marguerite (Faust), Mimì (La bohème), Liù (Turandot), the title roles in Manon Lescaut and Daphne, Cio-Cio-san (Madama Butterfly), Gilda (Rigoletto), Violetta (La traviata), Elena (I vespri siciliani), Leonora (La forza del destino), Chrysothemis (Elektra), Melinda (Bánk bán) and Erzsébet Szilágyi (Hunyadi László).
