Born in 1997, Mihály Berecz first took the stage at the age of four, as part of a Csángó Festival gala event at the Petőfi Csarnok. He is currently studying violin (under István Ulrich) and piano (under Edit Major) at the King Saint Stephen High School of Music. His concert programmes include works by Bach, Haydn, Mozart and Bartók. In 2010, he won the grand prize at the 12th National Music School Competition in Nyíregyháza and also appeared at the Berlin Music Festival. In the autumn of 2010, he gave a solo concert at the Magyarkanizsa International Jazz Festival. He was ten years old when he started to study music theory and composition, and his work Kyrie was performed in 2011. In December of 2011, he received the award of excellence at the Third National Béla Bartók Music School Piano Competition, and he was awarded a gold medal at the International Youth Festival in Prague in the spring of 2012. In 2013, at a birthday benefit gala for Zoltán Kocsis at Müpa Budapest, he served as the soloist in Ravel's Piano Concerto in G major, with Kocsis himself conducting. He also gave a solo concert at the Faust Ball held at the Opera House. He has been invited to collaborate as a guest artist with such ensembles as Concerto Budapest, the Budapest Philharmonic Orchestra and the National Philharmonic Orchestra.
