Giovanni Ruffini was an Italian poet whose best-known work is the libretto for the opera Don Pasquale. He read law, but was forced to leave Italy for political reasons. He spent time in Switzerland and England before settling in Paris, where he would start to work on the libretto for Don Pasquale together with Gaetano Donizetti.
