Pianist Harmut Höll has accompanied Renée Fleming at concerts across Europe, Australia, Asia and North America for over a decade. Between 1982 and 1992, he served as Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau's accompanist. Their well-known collaboration was hallmarked by song recitals given at the Salzburg Summer Festival, at the Edinburgh, Florence, Munich and Berlin festivals and at New York's Carnegie Hall. They produced no fewer than 60 CD recordings, a number of which received international awards. Höll's other vocal partners have included Thomas Hampson, Christoph Prégadien, Hanno Müller Brachmann, Roman Trekel, Urszula Kryger, Yvonne Naef, Jochen Kowalski, Hermann Prey and Jadwiga Rappé. He is currently a professor at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe, after having also taught in Frankfurt and Cologne, and thus enjoys a close relationship with the younger generation of artists. He has held master classes for singers of lieder in Finland, at Weimar's International Music Seminar, the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival and Salzburg's Mozarteum, as well as in Jerusalem, Cairo and the United States. He served as a guest professor in Helsinki in 1998/99 and at the Mozarteum in Salzburg between 1994 and 2003. He has taught voice at Zurich's Hochschule der Künste for close to ten years, and has been rector at the Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe since October of 2007. In 1990, he received the Robert Schumann Award from the city of Wickau, and he is an honorary member of both the Robert Schumann Society of Zwickau and the Philharmonic Society of Saint Petersburg. In 1997, he shared the ABC International Music Award with Mitsuko Shirai.
