Born in Budapest, Lóránt Kézdy completed his education at the Hungarian Academy of Applied Arts as a student of Gusztáv Oláh and Mátyás Varga. He worked in television from the beginning of his career, primarily as a designer on drama and musical drama productions. In 1978, he was named head of Hungarian Television's Art Design Division, and he played a large part in the development of the design workshop there. His stage visuals and spatial constructions were characterised by a combination of stylistic elements from modern painting and effects of light and shadow.
