Wilhelm August Wohlbrück was a German actor and librettist who was born into a family of actors in Hannover. He first worked in Breslau (now the Polish city of Wrocław), and then later in Leipzig, Madgeburg and, finally, in Riga, where he died of cholera.
During his lifetime, he wrote four librettos for his brother-in-law, the composer Heinrich Marschner: Der Vampyr (1828, Leipzig), Der Templer und die Jüdin (1829, Leipzig), Des Falkners Braut (1831, Leipzig), Der Bäbu (1838, Hannover). The first two of these were highly successful, enjoying great popularity during the 19th century.
